Christmas Eve at Le Grand Balcon - December 24 2022
Thirty members met up on Christmas Eve, to enjoy a fabulous day out. A couch, sponsored by our association, transported Menton-based members to Nice old town, where a private room had been booked at “Le Grand Balcon,” for a festive luncheon, before heading to Nice Opera house, where best seats ensured a good view of the ballet Coppelia. With time to explore the old town after the ballet, or alternatively, to take a Christmas drink at Ma Nolan’s pub, we finally boarded our coach for home.

To view the film “ I wanna dance with Somebody,” the life story of singer, Whitney Houston, from rags to riches.
It is customary, for us to discuss our thoughts and feelings on the films viewed, over a drink or two at the rooftop bar of Hotel Mediterranee and, as always, a lively discussion ensued.
If you haven’t yet joined us, think about it. It’s great fun.

We had a good BA lunch at Piccadilly today. The patron was very laid back and accommodating. The portions were big and wine flew without questioning!
BA ghostly night out - l’endroit - halloween 2022
A ghostly night at l’Endroit, with ghouls and witches spookily springing up under the cover of darkness.
Hats off to our members, Lance and Karine. They entered into the spirit!! with their fantastically frightening costumes.
16 members and guests were brave enough to venture out on this dark night for a bit of fun.
We enjoyed Bruno’s music and the craic.

BA Menton Luncheon - La Table d’Oc - october 21, 2022
Helén organised a great lunch at La Table d’Oc today, which everyone enjoyed.
It was our first rainy day in ages and we made short shrift of the massive foie gras starters and copious amounts of wine offered.
Long before Covid, La Table d’Oc was one of our regular haunts. We’ll be back.

BA Menton Luncheon - L'Orangeraie - Saturday september 24th 2022
Everything had been planned meticulously. Aperos and nibbles to be served under sun umbrellas in the garden, followed by lunch in the magnificent dining room on the first floor, but……the long awaited rain came down during the night and continued all day.
Many thanks to the the hotel for their prompt re-planning, opening up the reception area for our drinks and nibbles. 42 members attended. A big turn out!
forum des associations - saturday 3rd sept 2022
Our motely crew, beating the heat at the Palais de l’Europe on Saturday. Quite a few of our members stopped by to say hello and six new members joined our association. 47 people took our leaflets to peruse. All in all, a successful day and a big thank you to Annie, Helén, Helena, Susanne and Arezou, who all worked hard.

Attended by 15 members of the British Association on an exceedingly hot day in Menton.
The president of Amities Belges, Marcel Barr, built his speech around the strong ties between Belgian and UK royalty. We laid a bouquet on behalf of our association.
coffee morning - saturday july 16 2022
This was our last coffee morning at the Residence du Louvre, before our August break. It was a busy, well attended morning. We welcomed three new members and celebrated our oldest member’s birthday, Hans Roempke, with Prosecco and a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday, followed by lunch at the tennis club, where a birthday candle was lit and another rendition rendered.
All in all, a good day, which 98 year old Hans, who still drives and swims, really enjoyed.
The great turn out was much appreciated.
boat trip to italy - sunday july 3rd 2022
All who were on board, would love to do the trip again. A sure sign of a successful event.
Anchoring of the Italian coast in a scenic spot, a refreshing swim was enjoyed, followed by a “bring your own” picnic lunch before heading back to Menton.

Apero Evening - La Yogueteria - Friday July 1st 2022
Happy smiling faces at the apero. 16 members enjoyed a lively chat over drinks and canapés. Later, some of us trekked to the Moroccan restaurant in town for tagine and couscous, followed by live music on the promenade.
Menton Men - Rain stops Play - June 28 2022
Yesterday, 14 of Menton Men’s finest ignored the threatening clouds as they arrived at Nirvana, for a drinks and “boules” session. Initially, all went well and two teams set out disregarding the first drops of rain. They painted the “Jack” white as the horizon darkened. In the end, the weather won hands down. Whilst Nice airport had to close, live gigs were cancelled and rescue operations took place st sea, our lads heroically rose to the occasion in damp solidarity.
Where are they all?
So much water came down on the terrace, the wheels of the sun lounger were submerged.

On the last Friday of every month we meet up early evening for a chat and drink.

BA Menton Luncheon - L'Ardoise - May 19th 2022
More than 30 members attended the Ardoise restaurant for our monthly lunch on a very warm May day.
greek odyssey gala yacht club of monaco may 8th 2022
Our members attended the glittering Gala Dinner celebrating 70 years of the Hellenique Community in Monaco.
An evening with music and dancers resplendent in spectacularly colourful Greek costumes from the islands.
HSH Prince Albert attended the opening reception, where guests enjoyed ouzo and Greek canapés, before sitting down to dinner created by Greek executive chef, Georges Gavrias.
An exceptional occasion which ended after midnight.

A very nice setting. The restaurant was busy and members enjoyed their meal.
AGM - SATURDAY APRIL 9TH 2022 11 AM
Our AGM took place on Saturday, 09. April at 11am
25 Members attended and 40 proxies were received. In total 65 votes for the following:
• Members voted in favour of electing Arezou Nezam on to the committee
• The current committee, Sean Webb Hon Treasurer, Annie Ratcliff Secretary and Helene O’Hare Welfare, agreed to stand again in 2022. The motion was unanimously accepted
• The Chairman, Birgitt Nordbrink, agreed to stand again in 2022. The motion was unanimously accepted.
This concludes the voting on that day.
Subscriptions were down in 2021 and we drew from donations. We look forward to receiving outstanding subscriptions.

BRITISH ASSOCIATION LUNCH - Monaco hotel school - march 23rd 2022
This was our first luncheon at the « Cordon d’Or » Monaco.
Most members took the train and our large group slowly wound its way to the exit. It was a warm sunny day and elderly members appreciated a rest in the sun on one of the many benches.
The restaurant opened at 12:10. Four tables of 8 had been reserved for us. Initially, we were 35, but three members had to cancel due to illness.
After a glas of excellent champagne, we enjoyed our good value meal.
We shall return.
